For those on the Northshore, or even the Southshore who have not been to Ruby’s Roadhouse in Mandeville, time to get up and go. Yours truly is not much one for going to bars and dancing these days (seems going out is limited to events). However, being that is a hop skip and a jump from my house, I have frequented a few times to see my favorite band the Blackened Blues play. Chuck Collins, the drummer from this band even co-hosted my radio show with me yesterday (podcast) and has subbed for me. Last night I met up with the girls there and we danced from 10-1. As a matter of fact, Cinderella had so much fun, she didn’t even intend to stay that late and had an “oh my look at the time I better go” moment. This old fashioned watering hole, with wood floors and chalk surfaced ceilings (my name is up there) is packed with a wide array of people. Yay for having clean bathrooms, good security and a fun environment to hang. Funny how guys are hesitant to ask women to dance. No matter, we have fun without them!

Oh ya – they have Abita beer there too and you know how I love me a cool one of those for a refreshment!

I Saw the Star Gazing New Orleans article on NOLA.com. That is where you tell about the famous people you have seen and where. Thought it would be fun to do a Northshore addition. So…who have you seen and where?

What a well-worded editorial. Below is a quote from the editorial.

But the criminal investigation isn’t Mayor Price’s only problem. Even short of criminal charges, he has shown horrendous leadership. He ought to step aside and let Mandeville choose a new mayor.

The problem is, he will not resign. He already stated he won’t and he is not getting any pressure from the City Council to do so. We will continue to be the laughing stock of the region (or at least in the top 5) and we will continue to support the “Mayor Price Legal Defense Fund” as long as he hangs around.

What can you do? Good thing you asked. If you live in the Mandeville City limits, have a business here or live outside the City limits, your support is needed to help recall him. Come join me and the rest of “The Concerned Citizens of Mandeville” as we actively seek to collect enough signatures to help get him recalled.

…your 7 year old (Princess Whinalot) gets beamed in the head with a throw! I won’t get all negative about it (I am The Princess of Positive), but common sense tells you – a desk calendar thrown from a 2 story float will undoubtedly contribute to some girl drama and tears. Eh…she got over it quick and started “getting her parade on” right away: be alert, look cute, smile, and yelling, “Throw me something Mistah or lady.”

Today, I took my daughter and my Mom (football for the boys) to the Perseus parade in Slidell. Heading East on 190 from Mandeville, it was a straight shot to park ourselves on a curb on a sunny but brisk day and give “Grandma” a little taste of Mardi Gras before we ship her back to Boston (dad will be here all season). We had a blast and came away with 2 rolling suitcases full of junk, throws for Oprheus treasures. I think my mom is sorry she is leaving during Mardi Gras now.

As usual, I refuse to be negative, but might suggest they get the timing a tiny bit better for next year (clog after clog). They had 14 floats and though it didn’t seem like we were getting showered with throws at the time, the proof is in the suitcases. A little Mardi Gras music for you and pictures.
