Yes folks, the drinks are on me and you and you and you and everyone who pays taxes in St. Tammany Parish. What the hell am I thinking not running for public office….they are charging for shoes with their work credit cards?! And Lordy…do I love my shoes – dying to have one of those red bottomed stilettos!!! Seriously, this is the most unique and amazing credit card in the world as it comes with perks beyond belief! It is such a relief to know that people who are in charge of assessing my property taxes are enjoying their job and living large. I now understand why they do not have time to go back and see if new constructions have changed their Homestead Exemption status! As for perks on this card…you ready? You can use it for jewelry, shoes, fine dining, cocktails at any hours of the day (if you call it a business lunch *wink wink*), cigars and soooo much more. Here is the best part…you never have to pay for it yourself because “someone else” is paying for it!

Does anyone know a good Urologist for Patricia Core? Poor thing must have issues as she was in a the bathroom a lot while George (got thrown under the bus) and Steve (also under the bus) Campbell were swilling cocktails!

“Friends of Eddie Price” fundraiser! OMG -this landed in my inbox and all I could say is….this is the funniest joke ever. Now please come over and put my jaw back in place as it has been on the floor since I found out it is for real. I am talking about a local fundraiser for my former Mayor, Eddie Price, who is headed to the Federal Penitentiary for stealing from the taxpayers! Give me a freaking break! Make your bed – lie in it! As for those who attend, donate or are with Alpha Plan LLC collecting on his behalf…no comment. By the way, I was emailing with a friend this morning about the best ways to help the family of wounded Marine who was shot in the head. Puts things into perspective huh?

Ask ANY resident of Mandeville if corruption exists in this once sleepy bedroom community and their answer is always the same – YES. Our own Mayor has resigned, is in hot water and may do some time in the pokey. Now comes the scramble for the City Council to all wash their hands as we are getting ready to elect a new Mayor. Yes – they are ALL part of the problem and not the solution. It would be wonderful if we could start all over tomorrow with a fresh crew. Interim Mayor Bubby (what we also call a Jewish Grandmother) is at the helm and determined to pick a police chief before he leaves and it looks like there are some decent resumes in the bunch. Of course, politics as usual so do not expect the best candidate to get selected. Anyhoo, the new Mayor will get to choose again in a few months and may not necessarily want Bubby’s pick. And we all know that Ms. Lenfant will run for Mayor and probably do pretty well because she has tried to stand out as the “reformer” of the group. She will also do well based on the “name recognition game. NO – I do not buy her Academy award winning performances! Jerry Coogan is rumored to be running too and all I can say is – OY! I love this editorial today as the obvious is pointed out on some of the corruption and resistance for transparency. Give me a flippin break! There are lots of rumors of potential candidates and after the new year, I expect we will have a quick idea who is in the game! Stay tuned as I’ll be blogging about it!

Update 3:45 Saturday – A unanimous vote for our new Interim Mayor Mr. Bubby Lyons. This was the biggest dog and pony show I have ever seen!!!! The council should apologize for wasting all our time and the time of the 2 truly qualified applicants that were there- Mr. Glen Runyon and Mr. Ray Bass. Bubby will appoint police chief and will do things and business will most likely go on as usual. I’m not saying the man is not honest. I’m saying he was handpicked by the council (who are all part of the problem) to get things done that they want (IMHO) done how they want them done. I really felt vomit rising in my throat while I sat at the 2 hour meeting. 5 month countdown….. I may need a new Mayor countdown widget.

It is show time! The corrupt house of cards has begun to fall with the departure of our fearful leader, King Eddie Price. After causing complete embarrassment and surrounding our city with shame for the last 18 months or so, it took a plea with the Feds to make him leave. I was glad to hear he pleaded guilty in court yesterday and will hopefully do a few years in the pen. Lord knows how many tax dollars were wasted because of him or how much potential revenue was lost. Now, my guess has been that he was the bottom feeder, the little guy, the school yard drug dealer when the authorities are looking for the kingpin in this whole big picture. I would gather that he has been singing and ratting everyone and their grandmother out so he could get off easy. My tipsters tell me that the rest is coming swiftly and I am breaking out the popcorn and going to sit back and watch. No, I do not enjoy seeing people destroyed. But, I do think it is a wonderful thing to see criminals (and that is what they are), get what they deserve. You use your position to steal and do shady crud – you pay!

On a personal note here. No, I do not hate anyone, including Eddie. I do not even know him personally or any of his other upcoming jailmates. He may have “done his job” after Katrina. He may have done you favors over the years. He may be a lot of fun to hang out with (this is all stuff I have heard from people who would not sign the petition), but he is a criminal – period! Now, for the rest of the City Council….I can’t bite my tongue any longer – they may all be honest, they may all be innocent, but none of them are stupid! They sat back and continued to let Eddie embarrass our city and they could have held a vote of no confidence or publicly stood up and said enough is enough – but they did not! Not one of them. Instead they sat back and tried to “shine shit” (much better when my dad says it in Yiddish). But, it is the only way to describe it. Do I think they all need to go? Yes. Even if it is guilt by association or lack of intestinal fortitude to stand up and speak up against King Eddie – that is enough for me to say they should wave their white flags. But they will all do their council time unless they go down too (& I think at least 1 may).

As for me, I honestly would have put my resume in (and had every intention of doing so), if Coogan’s pal Lyons was the only candidate for Interim Mayor. There are a couple of good people in the mix and I look forward to the debacle at 1:00 today in City Hall as the council either 1. swiftly has 3 to agree on Lyons or 2. sends all the resumes to Jindal to select. I have a good candidate for Mayor I will get behind and 1 potential new City Council member….so far! Will I ever run for office….probably not….but never say never.

The Mayor of Mandeville, Eddie Price, resigned Friday, October 10th at a 4:30 press conference. There were no apologies as it is not his M.O. I still feel so terribly for the policemen that lost their job as a casualty of him and you would think he would at least owe them a public apology. I also hope his plea does not get him just a slap on the wrist.

Well….all I can say is….it is about time!

People keep asking what I think about everyone that sits on the City Council. Here is my official statement,

“I now believe that everyone that is on the City Council is part of the problem and not the solution. None of them stood up to take a vote of “No Confidence” for Eddie or signed the “recall petition.” They were responsible for allowing Eddie Price to continually embarrass the City of Mandeville as his buffoonery made our city the butt of many jokes. We will never know how much potential revenue we lost due to them not taking action. We also will never know how much we lost while they allowed the city to carry on as business as usual. We must all remember that their job is to serve the people of this great city. It is the right of the citizens to demand the best for the future of the City of Mandeville. It is time for the city to move forward with new leadership. Please choose wisely.”

Many thanks for all the e-mails, phone calls and texts that thanked me for working to recall him last year. It was the right thing to do at the time and I have no regrets. I also want to thank all the brave citizens who worked on the recall. It was a success as we stirred the hornet’s nest and we won just by getting it filed! Thank you to the Feds for a job well done and all those who cooperated with them too. To all the cheerleaders of Eddie, it is obvious your hand had been in the proverbial cookie jar! Your gravy train has ended for now and I hope the City immediately evaluates ALL city contracts and re-opens them for new companies that did not have a chance before. From my understanding, Eddie is small potatoes in this scandal and more will be coming with bigger players going down. Nothing would please me more than seeing city hall completely cleaned out at this time. In reality, that will not happen, and Trilby will be our Mayor until the next election cycle.

Hey Eddy,It has been a while, I guess it was in City Hall or in Court where you have been charged by the State with Purgery, remember our conversation before you went in to testify after being called in by Copp’s attorney Ralph Capetelli on behalf of now Convicted Coward FELON and WOMAN Beater Gary Copp. I said, “You need to tell the truth Eddie”, just as Ralph Capetelli walked up and interupted our conversation, I had to get in his face and tell him to “go take a hike”. And he did! You should have followed my request. But you didn’t, I really thought you were going to be totally truthful, you scumbag, you are no better than Copp, you are a coward too! Congratulations on finally cutting the bait as Mayor. You should have done this along time ago. Many think of you as the good old boy who sloshes around in ankle deep water after a storm, but I know you to be a liar and a scoundrel and you know you are, otherwise why resign. Well, being a liar is only a small problem, you likely will bring a few down with you on your way to Prison. Now you and Copp have something in common. Sgt Hursell, Mande PD, will be in the same boat, I hope. As I have said, you both are really liars or have early on set Alzheimers disease, I doubt the Alzheimers part. The consequences of the actions that you have done have ended up hurting many people’s lives and will be an indelible mark of pain that will likely last many for the rest of theirs. No – this is not a contest we want to win! Corruption gone wild – makes my head spin! Still think this is the best place in the world to live, we just have to keep cleaning house and go for government transparency. The houses of cards will continue to fall and hopefully Bobby Jindal will be the leader we need to make a change and he will stay put long enough to clean up his own backyard! Yep, got my tiara on and thinking Princess of Positive thoughts!

Transparency in Louisiana and all government is a wonderful thing!
