2:00-3:00 pm Strength Through Service Presentation by Rev. Larry W. Coppock on how an Eagle Scout republished the armed forces’ ecumenical devotional book his grandfather carried in WWII.
Followed by a panel discussion with Eagle Scouts.

***The Alexandria VA Medical Center will celebrate Veterans Day on Tuesday, November 11th with a parade at 12 noon and a program at 2 p.m. The program will be held in the Building 8 Auditorium. SFC Mike McNaughton Retired will serve as the parade Grand Marshall as well as guest speaker at the program.

***A number of area schools will stage Veterans Day services. These include North Highlands Elementary at 8:15 a.m.; Fair Park High School at 9 a.m.; Southwood High School at 9 a.m.; Northwood High School at 9:30 a.m.; Green Oaks High School at 9:30 a.m.; Caddo Magnet High School at 9:40 a.m.; Captain Shreve High School at 9:45 a.m.; C.E. Byrd High School at 10 a.m.; Huntington High School at 10 a.m.; and North Caddo High School at 11:24 a.m.

***Bill Causey’s Big Band, with guest vocalist Starla Harbin, will present a free Veterans Day concert, “Remember the Brave,” at 6:30 p.m. at Elm Grove Middle School, 1541 Old U.S. Highway 71, Elm Grove. For more information, call (318) 549-6553.

***Claiborne Academy in Haynesville will stage a Veterans Day ceremony at 11 a.m., including a lunch served to veterans and their guests. For more information, call (318) 927-2747 to RSVP.

***The Archive Room at First United Methodist Church in Shreveport has a pictorial display of its members who have served this country through military and war service.

***Fort Polk will host a short Veterans Day Ceremony at 11 a.m. Tuesday in front of the post Headquarters Building. There will be a wreath-laying by Louis T. Dechert of the U.S.-Korea Allies Council and Garrison Command Sgt. Maj. Kevin D. Sharkey, and a keynote address by the post’s commanding general, Brig. Gen. James C. Yarbrough, preceded by the National Anthem and followed by taps and a rifle salute.

***The Municipal Auditorium in Shreveport will stage a free ribbon-cutting and celebration at 11 a.m. at its “Hall of Heroes.”

***Baton Rouge USS Kidd lists Join us in honoring the men and women of the Armed Forces. The service will be held next door at Louisiana’s Old State Capitol. The service begins at 11:00 a.m. and is open to the public. For more information, contact us at 225-342-1942.
***Spring Lake Assisted Living and Retirement Community will honor residents who have served in the military with special 2 p.m. ceremony that will be followed by the Shreveport Police Department Color Guard presenting the colors.
