Update Memorial Day afternoon: Me & the kiddos (our veteran is playing golf), attended the Memorial Day Ceremony in Slidell. It was a small ceremony but meaningful. It included the laying of the wreath, TAPS, a 21 gun salute, a short speech by Congressmen Scalise and an amazing speech by Commander Lt. Cmdr. Darin A. Evenson, a U.S. Navy SEAL, where he also read this poem.

This from President Bush, “I also ask all Americans to observe the National Moment of Remembrance beginning at 3:00 p.m., local time, on Memorial Day. Please pause today and remember those who gave the ultimate sacrifice.”

“They are dead; but they live in each Patriot’s breast,
And their names are engraven on honor’s bright crest.”
~Henry Wadsworth Longfellow~

If you can attend a Memorial Day Ceremony – please do so. Below is a list of ceremonies I have been able to find so far in Louisiana. If you know of others – please contact me greatperry@gmail.com and I will add. Also, please consider supporting the troops (so many ways to do so) by becoming part of Soldiers’ Angels today – click here for the Louisiana site and here for the main site.
